Getting Started with Tier 3

Data

  1. Identify students for Tier 3 supports

    • Progress monitoring

    • Existing data 

  2. Determine data-decision rules for starting, continuing, fading supports

Systems

  1. Determine support team for invidividual students

  2. Team should match student to various interventions based on function

  3. Train necessary staff on interventions as needed

Practices

  1. Interventions should address possible function of behavior 

  2. Modify evidence-based interventions that have the key features of "good" interventions

  3. Revise IEP (if applicable) to align with needs and current data

Outcomes

  1. Review student data weekly 

  2. Conduct periodic fidelity checks on the intervention 

  3. Implement interventions 3-4 weeks for valid data
